About us | Print |

The Underground Youth Charitable Trust is an innovative and responsive youth (12 to 24 years) provision that offers a variety of capacity-building and social inclusion opportunities for young people, promoting personal development and pathways for employment.

The infrastructure offers a plethora of participation and consultation mechanisms. Through hands-on opportunities young people are able to define and progress their own ideas while assuming ownership for their own outcomes through the underground umbrella.

Underground is the home of the iconic Underground Youth Fashion Show now in its fifth year and it is through the fashion show that the development of a youth trust was created.

Any youth project could have the opportunity to develop through the underground youth trust umbrella. All that is required initially is to make contact with the underground trust administrator with your idea and the underground team of Kirsty Simpson & Jo McDonald will work with you to see if your idea can become a reality.

Kirsty & Jo have fostered strong relationships with the Wanganui community through the years, have a wealth of experience with funding and sponsorship and know-how to make an event no matter how big or small work. Mostly though, Kirsty & Jo have a passion for youth and the development of youth initatives locally.

Below are the members of the 2010 Underground Fashion Show Committee:
